Package catalog
ansible/install.packages.yml consumes package
groups defined in ansible/packages.yml.
Default groups cover the project’s baseline categories such as base packages, time sync, security, storage, networking, hardware information, developer tools, and power policy. Optional desktop, Apple media, GPU-vendor, and firmware groups remain disabled unless explicitly selected.
Example package-group override:
ansible-playbook ansible/install.packages.yml \
-e '{"package_group_overrides":{"desktop_rdp_optional":true},"exclude_packages":["mailutils"]}'| Extra variable | Purpose |
|---|---|
package_group_overrides |
Enables or disables named groups from
ansible/packages.yml; the example enables the
optional desktop/RDP group. |
exclude_packages |
Removes specifically named packages from the resolved package
list; the example excludes mailutils. |
Run this from a configured Ansible checkout with the correct inventory and privilege settings. The published runners carry their own runtime support and are safer for a new host than manually assembling a partial playbook command.
